Fresh summer wine cocktails

Hurray, finally the summer is here! The temperatures are around 30 celsius degrees and each of us has his or her own way of refreshment. Someone (including me) prefers swimming, someone rather stays at home with running air conditioning and does not go outside at all. But I think anyway, that it is a good idea to enjoy your summer activities with refreshing wine cocktails. Summer cocktails should contain lower amout of alcohol, because of not being drunk on sun too soon. So why not try one of our recipes where wine plays the main role instead of traditional rum or vodka?

Fruit lemonade with Moravian Muscat

My friends are really mad about this cocktail, especially the girlish part. In case I do not have Muscat, I use semisweet rosé wine instead.

1,5 dcl of semisweet Moravian Muscat with lower volume of alcohol (rosé)

0,5 dcl of fresh lemon juice

0,5 dcl of water

50 g of strawberries (also raspberries or blueberries are possible)

1 tea spoon of sugar

1 sprig of basil

Ice

Mix all ingredients excluding wine and ice together by blender. Use high glass with ice, pour Muscato and the mixxed liquid. Serve with a straw.

White port wine with tonic

It reminds me of my pen friend from Portugal, with whom I wrote long English letters during my studies at grammar school. Unfortunatelly he has never invited me to visit him. So just his favourite drink.

1 dcl of white port wine

1 dcl of tonic

Ice

Spiral from orange peel

Put ice into smaller plump glass. Pour port and tonic on it and mix it together. Decorate the glass with spiral from orange peel.

Homemade Sangria

You already know the one from supermarket. But it is usually very sweet and with many preservatives inside. Try this one and you will see, it is not so much work.

1 bottle of light red wine – for example Pinot Noir

250 ml of fresh juice from red grapefruit

75 ml of fresh lemon juice

Sugar according to your taste (not more than 150 g)

Your favourite fruits – our reccomendation – watermelon, raspberries, red currant and lime

Blend all liquids together in a big bowl and use sugar according to you taste. Add sliced fruits. If you have a nice ornamental vase, use it. It wil be an interestin decoration too.

Ginger fizz

Wine and ginger? What a cryzy idea! Do not discourage yourselves and you will see your wonderment – ginger adds pungency (you will have goosebumps 🙂 and Gewürtz Traminer adds nice rose aroma …

100 ml of Gewürtz Traminer

100 ml white frizzante

1 teaspoon of sliced ginger

30 ml of agave syrup (can be use cane sugar instead )

1 – 2 spritz of Tabasco – can be ommited

Put ginger and agave syrup or sugar into wider glass. Use wooden spoon and crush the ginger with it. Add Gewürtz Traminer and mix together. Infuse into high cocktail glass with ice and add frizzante. Add Tabasco, if you want.
